|
The author reviewed psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy of psychiatric inpatient in terms of object-relation theory and countertransference. The patients usually externalise their own internal object relationship. The therapists could understand patient? internal object relationships through their own feeling. And they try to show the patients their internal object relationship. In psychiatric ward, patients anticipate therapist? response as their internal object?. But they realise the difference between their expected response and real one. The patient could modify their internal object representation through introjected new, remedial object. The author also suggest several ideas for psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapy of psychiatric inpatient.
